Day Three of Awesomeness

Today was pretty much perfect. The weather was a bit chilly in the morning, but by afternoon I was down to just one jacket! Everything has gotten easier, the volunteers know what they’re doing and the kids know where they’re going, and we all know where the Starbucks is located.

One of the great things about this week is seeing how fired-up the kids are for service, worship, and Jesus. Passion asked all the participants to bring a towel and some socks to donate to a local mission. This is a photo from above of a TOWER OF TOWELS. There are also stations around the conference where the kids can give to 6 different organizations, all involving stopping human trafficking. The line to give was massive. At one point there were over 1,000 kids in it. They gave over $500,000 in one day!

That’s because they know that worship is not just about singing songs. Although they sang a LOT of songs. Loudly. It was a beautiful thing to behold.

The volunteers are awesome, too. Our team leader drove from St. Louis, and took vacation time, just to help Passion succeed.

Before we left tonight, Carolyn, Delia and I got to go inside the dome and worship with the kids, then hear John Piper. How many times am I allowed to use “awesome” in a post?

I can hardly believe it will be over tomorrow. It should be another (insert synonym for awesome here) day. The weather is even supposed to be almost 50. I may go crazy and keep it to just one pair of pants!
