Holy Sunday

1 Corinthians 12

Spiritual Gifts

1Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. 2You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. 3Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.4There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.

7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

Curious to find your spiritual gift?  Here’s one online assessment.

You tell me yours and I’ll tell you mine! FYI, it’s not Service.

Batteries ARE Included.

Because I love you and I want you to have FREE stuff –

Go Here , click on the Enter Code button, and type (don’t cut and paste) the numbers 74016761.  Doing so will allow you to print a coupon for $1.00 off Rayovac batteries. There doesn’t seem to be a limit on how many you can print. And WalMart? Well they have them for 99 cents. I got 4 packs of batteries for FREE.

All those kids opening battery powered gifts on Christmas morning will thank you. Rayovac and WalMart, I’m not so sure.

Brownies on Parade

_mg_5924-1

You know what would be fun? What if we gathered all of the Brownies together for a PARADE? Who doesn’t enjoy walking, crowds, and cold weather?

_mg_5931-1

Jeanette is the troop leader. She thinks Southerners are silly for worrying about the weather. NEW YORKERS are never cold. Doesn’t she look comfy in the mittens (with hand warmers tucked inside) and ear covering? Hmm. I wonder who thought to bring extras. Those are also MY sunglasses. New Yorkers might not be cold, but they are POOR planners.

The Grand PooBah of Brownie Protocol wouldn’t let us throw candy because someone might get hurt. Do you KNOW how many children are rushed to the hospital every year because of a poorly tossed Snickers?? We opted instead to blow bubbles. And they have the added benefit of soaking your mittens, causing frostbite, which needs bandaging, and voila,  you’ve earned your first aid patch!

That first hill was a DOOZY.

_mg_5949-1

Hello? Can we get a little help here?

_mg_5954-1

I KNOW. Let’s give the banner to those two jokers.

_mg_5956-1

Hey! Where are you going? That’s not our troop; we’re back here!

_mg_5959-1

Hang on to the BANNER!

_mg_5961-1

Stop running, that’s not OUR TROOP!

_mg_5946-1

That was AWESOME. When is it our turn again??

There’s a reason my mother only let me do Brownies one year.

An epiphany

I realized something over the last two days. Something VERY important.

I need more KID ROCK in my life.

kidrockweb

* Couldn’t find a video suitable for my mother.

This has nothing to do with the fact that I drove 5 hours through Tennessee listening to Southern Rock stations the entire time.

I may also get a perm, undergo breast enhancement, and start drinking Southern Comfort.

Or maybe someone should buy me a CD player for my car for Christmas. Whichever.

Traveling Heavy

The MoonPie and I are out of town, sadly, for a funeral. To read a moving tribute from my brother, click here.

Between the two of us, we have brought 4 dresses, 2 skirts, 2 pairs of jeans, 2 sets of pj’s, 6 blouses, assorted underwear and 6 pairs of shoes – all of them black.

_mg_5966-1

It’s a good thing we’ve thought to bring everything we own. After all, we’re staying ONE night.

I’m not feeling overly friendly

In fact, I’m feeling decidedly UNDER friendly. You may have noticed a letter to Build-a-Bear. It’s been more of that these last few days. From threatening to start a letter writing campaign against Kroger, to demanding that the worker handing out meals at the Meet Santa party give my daughter the FULL SIZE chicken nugget dinner, after all, we paid the SAME PRICE so why should she get a different AMOUNT, huh, answer me THAT – I think I’ve managed to be annoyed for 48 minutes of every hour.

And now this BLOG. Really, all I can do, is look at the picture below and go to my happy place.

I feel better already.

Who’s with me??

Guess who’s in town today? That’s right – The PIONEER WOMAN. Whoo Hoo. She’s going to be signing copies of her cookbook at the Barnes and Noble in Atlanta at 7:30 p.m.

pw

We should GO, shouldn’t we? Never mind that my husband said 800 people showed up at her signing in Houston and she was there until 2:30 A.M., we should still GO. Here’s the plan – we go EARLY, no one will ever think of that, and then while one of us waits in line, the other will browse the bookstore. We’ll take turns going back and forth, drinking Starbucks and reading books without paying for them. How awesome does that sound?

So? Hello?

Anyone? Would it help if I buy the coffee?

This post is dedicated to…

Ashley S., the MoonPie’s newest friend.

_mg_7517

Who was kind enough to take us out to her barn, where she introduced us to her horse, Coquina…

_mg_7503

and introduced the MoonPie to Lacey (now her favorite horse), and..

_mg_7513

rode with her for a very LONG time around and around the arena, and

_mg_7552

caused expressions like this to happen over and over, AND…

_mg_7495

sent her home with half chaps, shirts, gloves, and this GORGEOUS saddle. To keep. For FREE.

And as soon as  those readers, (you know WHO you are) give her the horse, the trailer, and the boarding money, they TOO will have a blog post dedicated solely to them.

I’ll prepare a few other posts just in case it takes a while for you all to get everything together.
